Merci Richard!

Today, the legendary Richard Gasquet played his final match at the Open Occitanie. He leaves behind an exceptional legacy: 13 appearances, 6 consecutive finals, and 3 victories in 2013, 2015, and 2016.

For 15 years, he has thrilled the Sud de France Arena and captivated tennis fans with his magical one-handed backhand and other signature shots.

Year after year, he remained true to himself—a regional ambassador, a fantastic competitor, and a tennis aesthete.

This edition was no exception; he made us dream once again. He showcased his tennis prowess against Adrian Mannarino on Tuesday and delivered a magnificent battle this Thursday evening against Tallon Griekspoor, who remained steadfast in the final stretch despite the arena’s support for his opponent.

At the end of the match, Richard received a final tribute from Samir Boudjemma (General Director of TV Sport Events), Kamel Chibli (Vice-President of Education, Orientation, Youth, and Sports), Sébastien Grosjean (Tournament Director), and the Sud de France Arena.

This is not goodbye, as we will see Richard here again, in his home arena, as an ardent supporter of the Open Occitanie and French players.

Merci Richard!
