King Richard Roars Again

This Tuesday, January 28, the regional legend took to the court against Adrian Mannarino to move closer to a fourth Sun Trophy.

In front of a packed and electric Sud de France Arena, the Sérignan native showcased his tennis prowess against a helpless Adrian Mannarino, who succumbed in two sets and one hour and fifteen minutes of play. After this magnificent victory, he will challenge the No. 5 seed, Tallon Griekspoor, for a spot in the quarterfinals on Thursday.

The performance of the day was also delivered by the Dutchman, who, after defeating his compatriot Botic van de Zandschulp, eliminated the doubles pair of Cazaux-Gasquet in a battle that required a super tie-break to decide the winner. He will play again tomorrow in doubles, partnering with his compatriot Bart Stevens, against the German pair Frantzen-Jebens, who qualified today against the pair Murray-Roger-Vasselin.

Regarding the other results of the day, in singles: Constant Lestienne, Arthur Rinderknech, Christopher Eubanks, and Mattia Bellucci emerged victorious and advanced to the round of 16. In doubles, Cobolli and Eysseric defeated the Indian pair Sundar Prashanth and Nedunchezhiyan, and our defending champions, Doumbia and Reboul, triumphed over the pair Arribage and Middelkoop after a grueling battle that ended in a thrilling super tie-break.

Wednesday is Kids’ Day, so don’t miss the numerous activities and entertainment available at the stands in the hallways and at the VIP Occitanie Village.

On the sports front, the excitement continues with the entry of three seeded players: Andrey Rublev, Félix Auger-Aliassime, and the defending champion, Alexander Bublik. The evening promises to be enjoyable for both young and old.
