This Sunday, January 26, the first players stepped onto the Patrice Dominguez court and Court No. 1 at the Sud de France Arena, much to the delight of tennis enthusiasts.
After a day filled with thrilling matches, four international players took a significant step towards the main draw: former world number 10 Pablo Carreno Busta, who defeated Czech Dalibor Svrcina; American Aleksandar Kovacevic, who eliminated Nîmes native Robert Bertrand; Alibek Kachmazov, who beat Alejandro Moro Canas; and finally, Georgian Nikoloz Basilashvili, who overcame Matteo Gigante.
In the four all-French duels that completed the qualifying draw, Hugo Grenier, Terence Atmane, and Constant Lestienne triumphed over Calvin Hemery, Clément Chidekh, and Benoît Paire, respectively. Lastly, Titouan Droguet defeated Valentin Royer after a hard-fought three-set battle.
The eight winners will face off starting at noon to compete for the final four spots in the main draw. Tomorrow promises another exciting day of tennis.
Starting tomorrow, the first matches of the main draw will take place! Don’t miss the highlight of the day: the clash between Arthur Cazaux and Stan Wawrinka! This explosive matchup will feature two players who will also face off in doubles this week.
